What Sort Of Massage Is Available?

Sports Massage/Sports Injury Massage
This is a deeper form of massage bringing about the release of chronic muscle tension and can induce dramatic improvements in pain levels, function and sporting ability.
Sports Massage is beneficial as a preventative therapy and regular maintenance treatment is recommended to prevent injuries/tension recurring.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity, such as athletes, and patients who have sustained physical injury. It is also not uncommon for receivers of Deep Tissue Massage to have their pain replaced with a new muscle ache for a day or two. Deep tissue work varies greatly. What one calls deep tissue another will call light. When receiving deep tissue work it is important to communicate what you are feeling with your massage therapist.
A more relaxing massage, therapeutic massage gently eases tension from muscles in your back and other parts of your body leaving you feeling as light as feather. Massage lowers levels of stress hormones in the body and helps us cope with busy lives. It also aids circulation and can be helpful for pain relief.
Chair massage is a short massage, usually lasting 15 to 30 minutes, done through the clothing. It typically focuses on key tension areas in the back, neck, shoulders and arms. It is performed in a specially designed ergonomic massage chair in our reception area.
Trigger point therapy
This involves deactivating trigger points that may cause local pain or refer pain and other sensations, such as headaches, to other parts of the body. Manual pressure, vibration or acupuncture needles are applied to these points to relieve myofascial pain. Trigger point massage is usually carried out by the chiropractors or physiotherapists as part of a normal treatment session.
