I started my career in health care graduating with a degree in Sports Therapy BSc (Hons), from the University of Hertfordshire in 2009. I really enjoyed my work in several chiropractic clinics as a sports massage therapist. I also worked with various rugby clubs, providing clinical and pitchside sports therapy support to the teams.
Working alongside chiropractors, I was very impressed and inspired by the knowledge they had. Although my practice as a sports therapist was thriving, I felt that a big part of me was missing. It was not my care or love of the people I was helping, or my ability to rehabilitate the spine. It was an innate understanding that for people to be truly healthy, a healthy spine and nervous system was vital. From that day onwards, I had a burning desire to become a chiropractor.
I was accepted by all three of the Chiropractic Colleges in the UK and even two chiropractic colleges overseas. The best fit for me was the McTimoney Chiropractic College.
I really enjoyed my time at McTimoney College of Chiropractic. I took extra courses and even managed to maintain a small sports therapy practice over those years. I loved learning the specific McTimoney method of chiropractic, as well as all the other techniques, anatomy, x-rays, acupuncture and more.
McTimoney Chiropractic is a gentle and effective treatment for the whole body. This straightforward approach to realign and rebalance your body can increase mobility, relieve pain and discomfort and help your nervous system to work more efficiently. By using quick, gentle and accurate adjustments, the McTimoney Chiropractic method is suitable for people of all ages, including children, pregnant women and the elderly.
Now after years of training and experience as a chiropractor, I am as passionate and enthusiastic about helping people as ever. I feel I am particularly fortunate to have many years of experience as a graduate sports therapist before my chiropractic training because it has given me extensive knowledge, tools and various soft tissue and chiropractic techniques to help people get well again.
I also feel that I am uniquely privileged to have had the experience and training I have had, not only as a sports therapist with the years of experience there but now also as a chiropractor.
Here at Sundial, we have an excellent team of chiropractors and physiotherapists who are very supportive of each other. We like to share techniques and enjoy learning together as a team. The great thing about working with a large team is that every chiropractor differs slightly in their personal approach to chiropractic treatment making all of us unique in our chiropractic approaches.
I aim to relieve your pain and restore your function and mobility. As your chiropractor, my goal is to help you to feel better and achieve your optimum health as quickly as possible. I will tailor your treatment to you and help you feel great by taking some control over your joint, muscle and nervous system health.
You will receive a friendly and honest account of your musculoskeletal health through what I find, not just what you are feeling, giving you renewed body awareness and advice, with a focus on how you can help yourself. This may be by learning good posture or stretches that will help you along your road to recovery and optimum health.
Outside of work I have a passion for CrossFit, yoga, meditation and have a keen interest in living a healthy and well-balanced lifestyle. I love CrossFit because it can highlight my own patterns with fear and boundaries while targeting the strength, stamina and flexibility of my body and mind. I also enjoy taking part in team muddy obstacle races; they test your strength, endurance and grit.
The atmosphere at Sundial is always so relaxing, friendly and welcoming, which makes it a delightful environment to work in as well as to be taken care of yourself.
